Went and saw Cheap Trick and Joan Jett and the Blackhearts perform at the Puyallup fair on Wednesday, Sept 19th, 2018. Cheap Trick still sounding good. They started with a new set including Here Comes the Summer, a single they released ahead of their 21st album. Then they played a short set of their most popular songs, Dream Police, I Want You to Want Me, and Surrender.. On Surrender Robin Zander had what I believe was his daughter accompany and sing the "Mamma's Alright, Daddy's Alright, they just seem a little weird" portion of the lyrics.
Cheap Trick played for an hour and a half, then Joan Jett came on and played another hour. I admit to not being a huge Joan Jett fan but she did sound much better in person than on records. To me this is the sign of a good musician. They don't need the studio to help them sound good, in fact the studio only gets in the way of them sounding good.
